Any area where flammable gas, vapour or combustible dust can be present in ignitable concentration requires equipment that cannot become an ignition source. This is a legal requirement, not a preference.
Motors and electricals are enclosed and flameproof, surface temperatures are limited, and any spark risk from forks, wheels or the mast is addressed. Plastics and non-metallic parts are selected for static dissipation.
Zone 1 and Zone 2 cover gases; Zone 21 and 22 cover dusts. The zone determines the equipment category required. Always confirm the classification with the site safety engineer before ordering — the truck must match the zone, not the other way round.
Aisle width, floor type, shift pattern and load weight are enough for us to recommend a specification.
